Professor in the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University and Director of the Security Policy Studies MA Program.

I'm a member of the Elliott School's Institute for Security and Conflict Studies and Institute for African Studies.

My research focuses on the politics and effectiveness of peace operations, the dynamics of war and peace in Africa, and emerging threats in international security. Here's my GoogleScholar page.

I consult on peace and security issues for various governments, private firms, and international organizations and previously managed the Providing for Peacekeeping Project with the International Peace Institute.
